Surah 55

Ar-Rahman

The Most Merciful · 78 verses · Madinan

الرحمن

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

55:1

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ

English · Saheeh International

The Most Merciful

55:2

عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ

English · Saheeh International

Taught the Qur’ān,

55:3

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ

English · Saheeh International

Created man,

55:4

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ

English · Saheeh International

[And] taught him eloquence.

55:5

ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ

English · Saheeh International

The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation,

55:6

وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ

English · Saheeh International

And the stars and trees prostrate.1

55:7

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ

English · Saheeh International

And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance

55:8

أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ

English · Saheeh International

That you not transgress within the balance.

55:9

وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ

English · Saheeh International

And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.

55:10

وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ

English · Saheeh International

And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures.

55:11

فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ

English · Saheeh International

Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates]

55:12

وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ

English · Saheeh International

And grain having husks and scented plants.

55:13

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?1

55:14

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ

English · Saheeh International

He created man from clay like [that of] pottery.

55:15

وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ

English · Saheeh International

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.

55:16

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:17

رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ

English · Saheeh International

[He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets.1

55:18

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:19

مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ

English · Saheeh International

He released the two seas,1 meeting [one another];

55:20

بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ

English · Saheeh International

Between them is a barrier so neither of them transgresses.

55:21

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:22

يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ

English · Saheeh International

From both of them emerge pearl and coral.

55:23

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:24

وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ

English · Saheeh International

And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains.

55:25

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:26

كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ

English · Saheeh International

Everyone upon it [i.e., the earth] will perish,

55:27

وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ

English · Saheeh International

And there will remain the Face1 of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.

55:28

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:29

يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍ

English · Saheeh International

Whoever is within the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is in [i.e., bringing about] a matter.1

55:30

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:31

سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ

English · Saheeh International

We will attend to you, O prominent beings.1

55:32

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:33

يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ

English · Saheeh International

O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allāh].

55:34

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:35

يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ

English · Saheeh International

There will be sent upon you a flame of fire and smoke,1 and you will not defend yourselves.

55:36

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:37

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَٱلدِّهَانِ

English · Saheeh International

And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil1 -

55:38

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

55:39

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَآنٌّ

English · Saheeh International

Then on that Day none will be asked about his sin among men or jinn.1

55:40

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:41

يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ

English · Saheeh International

The criminals will be known by their marks, and they will be seized by the forelocks and the feet.

55:42

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:43

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ

English · Saheeh International

This is Hell, which the criminals deny.

55:44

يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍ

English · Saheeh International

They will circulate between it and scalding water, heated [to the utmost degree].

55:45

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:46

وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ

English · Saheeh International

But for he who has feared the position of his Lord1 are two gardens -

55:47

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

55:48

ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍ

English · Saheeh International

Having [spreading] branches.

55:49

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:50

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ

English · Saheeh International

In both of them are two springs, flowing.

55:51

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:52

فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ

English · Saheeh International

In both of them are of every fruit, two kinds.

55:53

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:54

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ

English · Saheeh International

[They are] reclining on beds whose linings are of silk brocade, and the fruit of the two gardens is hanging low.

55:55

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:56

فِيهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ

English · Saheeh International

In them are women limiting [their] glances,1 untouched2 before them by man or jinnī -

55:57

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

55:58

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ

English · Saheeh International

As if they were rubies and coral.1

55:59

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:60

هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ

English · Saheeh International

Is the reward for good [anything] but good?

55:61

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:62

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ

English · Saheeh International

And below them both [in excellence] are two [other] gardens -

55:63

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

55:64

مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ

English · Saheeh International

Dark green [in color].

55:65

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:66

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ

English · Saheeh International

In both of them are two springs, spouting.

55:67

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:68

فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ

English · Saheeh International

In both of them are fruit and palm trees and pomegranates.

55:69

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:70

فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌ

English · Saheeh International

In them are good and beautiful women -

55:71

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

55:72

حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَٰتٌ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ

English · Saheeh International

Fair ones reserved in pavilions -

55:73

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

55:74

لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ

English · Saheeh International

Untouched before them by man or jinnī -

55:75

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

55:76

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍ

English · Saheeh International

Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets.

55:77

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

English · Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

55:78

تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ

English · Saheeh International

Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.
